Project Summary
Nemaroo Bimbi Wind Farm Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of B.Grimm Power Pty Ltd, is currently assessing the feasibility of building a wind farm with a capacity up to
600
MW
in North Queensland on the Urannah Property site. Situated west of Mackay, Urannah is around
67,000
hectares
and hosts a landscape of high ridges and low valleys. The area is currently home to a cattle station, however there is great potential for multiple renewable energy resources.
Initial assessments of the wind speed suggest a high resource, with sufficient capacity to support a substantial wind farm which would connect to the local transmission network. At this early stage, it is anticipated around 80 turbines could be constructed along with a supporting battery energy storage system, generating enough electricity to supply the annual needs of around 250,000 homes and businesses in the region.
We are in the early stages of consultation with community stakeholders and residents. As the project develops, we welcome the locals' thoughts and encourage compassionate engagement.
Location
The proposed wind farm will be located on the Urannah Property, approximately 86 kilometers south-east of Collinsville and 80 km west of Mackay in North Queensland. The property is owned by a First Nations Corporation, the Urannah Properties Association and the Traditional Owners and Native Title holders are the Birriah people and Widi people, respectively.
